Wardrobe
Earth‑tone dresses such as rust, terracotta, camel, sage, and cream photograph beautifully in natural outdoor settings, while flowy maxi dresses add soft movement in open park areas. Fitted bodycon styles help define the bump and work especially well in shaded spots. It’s best to avoid neon or overly bright colors since they can reflect harshly in midday sun. This session includes one outfit only, so please arrive dressed and ready to shoot. You’re welcome to send your outfit choices to us ahead of time so we can help you select what will photograph best.
Hair & Beauty
It’s always helpful to bring a few touch‑up essentials, such as hair spray, bobby pins, a small comb, blotting towels, a personal handheld fan, and a light facial mist to stay fresh during the session. We also recommend wearing clear deodorant to avoid marks on clothing and keep everything looking clean on set.
- Natural textures (3C–4C curls, coils, twist‑outs) photograph beautifully in outdoor light.
- Protective styles like braids, knotless, twists, or locs hold up best in heat and wind.
- Keep makeup soft + glowy — the sun between 10–1pm already adds highlight.
Cultural Styling
Cultural styling is always welcome, whether that means incorporating meaningful fabrics, headwraps, jewelry, or small heirloom pieces that reflect your heritage. Soft wraps, patterned textiles, symbolic accessories, or traditional elements can add a personal touch without overwhelming the look. Feel free to keep it simple or bring something with deeper significance
Props
Props are completely optional, but you’re welcome to bring one or two meaningful items such as a small keepsake, baby shoes, an ultrasound photo, or something personal that reflects your story. Simple pieces photograph best and keep the focus on you, so we recommend choosing items that feel intentional rather than decorative.
Preparation is key...
Weather
The weather in early June is typically warm with bright midday sun, so expect higher temperatures and light dryness common to the High Desert. We’ll take short breaks as needed and use shaded areas when possible to keep you comfortable. Bringing water, a small towel, and any personal cooling items you prefer will help you stay fresh throughout the session.
Posing & Movement
Posing will stay natural and comfortable, focusing on gentle movement, soft angles, and simple prompts that highlight your connection and the shape of your bump. Because the sun is strongest between 10am and 1pm, we’ll use shade, directional light, and flattering angles to keep everything soft and clean. Light walking shots, slow turns, and relaxed standing poses work beautifully in this setting.
Partners & Family
If a partner or family members are joining, coordinating in neutral or earth‑tone outfits keeps the look cohesive without feeling overly matched. Simple, clean clothing photographs best and keeps the focus on you. We’ll guide everyone into natural, supportive poses that feel connected and relaxed, making sure the session flows smoothly whether it’s just you or your whole family.
